Peter Pan’s great adventure was the theme of the children’s entertainment in Dallas. The adult aided children followed the clues to the treasure.  I think everyone knows the story and can tell you about Captain Hook, the creature with the ticking clock in his belly, Wendy, and Tinker Bell.  We owe the story to Scottish novelist, J. M. Barrie. The free spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up interacts with fairies, pirates, mermaids, Native Americans, and occasionally ordinary children. Peter lives in Neverland. Peter’s  character originated in 1902 in Barrie’s “The Little White Bird”, an adult novel. Peter is a seven day old baby who has flown from his nursery to Kensington Gardens in London – obviously the birds and fairies taught him to fly. You have to wonder what those folks in Scotland were mixing with the Single malt? Barrie wrote a stage play called Peter Pan or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up. The expanded novel was published in 1911 as Peter and Wendy.  I mention all this as the last week has been so stressful on the world and political scene that it was a way to distract myself and all of you from our real world issues.

Miss Margie is a great image to close the week. And I quote J. M. Barrie, “all the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.”

Nothing can trump a week end away from reality- squander some time as if you will never grow up.  Mike
