Next week Idaho votes in the primary elections. I listened to a well known political strategist this morning and it heightened my sense of urgency around the upcoming poll date. It seems that Governor Little has his race well in hand, thankfully, because Idaho does not need what McGeachin would be preachin and teachin.

The incumbent apparently has an advantage in contested races and that could mean that Debbie Critchfield, clearly in my opinion the best individual to lead Education in Idaho is not certain to prevail. Please take a minute to look at her credentials and vote for Critchfield.

I was shocked, dismayed, and mystified how the Secretary of State race could be in question. Phil McGrane is the only possible choice of an informed electorate. The only Moon that should represent us today is the eclipsed version we will see this week. Idaho needs a Secretary of State who will act in a non-partisan manner with a proven track record and extensive background.

I am a very big fan of the Labrador retriever. The dog is known for its loyalty, obedience, and playfulness. The name identity of the breed is not a good reason to vote for the coincidentally named candidate. Please review the record and vote for Lawrence Wasden for Attorney General. Your vote will make a difference in this race.

I am embarrassed for any candidate who accepts the support of the past twice impeached President. I learned in my bridge classes that often the most difficult hand to play is No Trump, although a skilled player can win by playing their cards correctly.  Personally, I would rather lose that invoke the person who in the words of Senator Lindsey Graham, is “a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot”.  I seldom agree with Graham but he got this analysis spot on.

We had visitors this week who are teaching classes to local law enforcement on dealing with bomb and shooting threats.  It is unfortunate that this education is needed.  George, to protect his identify, is a policeman in Utah, as we discussed the world he shared a memorable insight. ‘People on the extreme right and extreme left are dangerous’ I agree and encourage those of you who live near the  middle of our democratic society to get involved.

In the local House and Senate Races, we need to elect candidates who support our Education system and do not live in the extreme’s outlined by George. You can go the Idaho Business for Education web site to see how each Legislator voted on this past year’s very important education related legislation. Redistricting has made my request more challenging for voters.  There are many legislators who understand the importance of  a comprehensive Education including critical thinking skills to the future of our children and the economy of our State.  I encourage you to take the time to find out the real agenda of the candidates in your district.

Sunday night at 9:30 Mountain time, you should be able to see a “Super Flower Blood Moon” as we experience a total Lunar eclipse. The Earth will cover the moon in its penumbra, the longer wavelength red light gives the moon a “striking reddish hue.” It is a super moon because of the proximity in this orbit to the earth and the flower 🌸 moniker recognizes the spring time. In case you are interested in science the wavelength phenomenon is called Rayleigh scattering. Please recall, this is the only Moon that deserves your vote on Primary day.

Enjoy the return of spring and may your thoughts be with our Ukranian friends and their families.   Mike
