The grandkids took me bowling last week, I had not done that since Karen turned 60. The bowling alley has come a long way since I was last there. Most impressive is the automated scoring, each bowlers name is input by the staff, you can pick your own avatar. Hank had a picture of himself with a shoe on his head, and the bumpers automatically came up for he and his sister. It was always a challenge finding the right ball, they are now color coded so the lightest do not need to be found randomly. As I recall three strikes in a row is called a turkey. That did not happen but it was on my mind as I thought about the events of this week.

The picture this week is my amateur photography capturing the wild turkey I encountered on the golf course early one morning. The bird walked calmly along until I stopped to get its picture and it then flew away. So much for the idea that the bird cannot fly.

The thought of turkey’s brought me to the new Christy Minstrel’s catchy tune. Green, Green. The lyrics are catchy. Green, Green, its green they say, on the far side of the hill-green, green, I’m goin away—to where the grass is greener still. This song was released in January of 1963.

The transition to one of the biggest “turkeys” in our country was simple. To talk turkey is to be open and honest in your communication. Jive turkey refers to someone who is “unreliable, makes exaggerations or empty promises, or who is otherwise dishonest.” In today’s context it is a humorous deliberately outdated way to call someone a “fool’.

Seems reasonable most of us do not suffer fools in our lives. In one district in Georgia, they apparently think it is ok. MTG, she really doesn’t deserve an acronym, just won her primary to return to not being able to vote in the U. S. House of Representatives. The list of her non sense is endless and certainly not what the Minstrels referred to in their Green(e) song. QAnon, Green Jewish lasers starting forest fires, Bill Gates forcing us to eat artificial meat to keep us from eating cheeseburgers—a peach tree event, Sandy Hook was a false flag event, Nancy Pelosi and her “gazpacho” police….. You can’t really make this stuff up but stay tuned for more Greene lunacy. I wish she were the only conspiracy theorist in our country

We are in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay resort. It comes to mind that not quite 5 years ago, a shooter killed 59 people by shooting from a 32nd story window into a concert crowd. The hotel has taken a lot of precautions to not allow that to happen again. Why can’t we find the strength to make that happen for our entire country.

We don’t let kids drive a car without earning a license. Why would we sell them a gun without extensive education and a background check. Please keep the Ukrainians in your thoughts.  Mike
