If you have not seen the Stephen Colbert impression of President Joe Biden, check it out on your favorite streaming service. This week Colbert took a moment to tease the President over the challenges he had getting his coat on after the helicopter landed. Joe is very fortunate to have Jill, she is a fine role model for Education and women in America. Jill graciously helped him find his missing sleeve, all of these machinations were followed by him dropping those always present Aviator sunglasses. The man’s ego does not keep him from showing emotion or having a good laugh at himself. I find that very refreshing after the malarkey we see each day from his critics, the Republican Party, and the twice impeached guy who just earned a visit from the FBI.

So many people making up such non sensical counter stories to the truth. Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, poked fun at the large orange liar, insinuating he would fit well in the “Florida man” meme culture. I just learned about the meme which refers to an alleged prevalence of male persons performing irrational or absurd actions in the state of Florida. Carter penned a headline to remind ‘45’ “Laws apply to Him, too.” Imagine what would spill out of his head if the Wonder Woman golden “truth lasso” surrounded him. Instead of four hours taking the fifth, we could all enjoy a fifth of our favorite beverage as he disappeared into the political and news sunset. The man is really not deserving of being called a Wanker.

I started off to write about lithium and its importance to our environmental future. This is a “big Li” that I can buy into. It is a common chemical element, it can be used as an effective anti depression medication or today most critically for Lithium-ion batteries. I started off down this rabbit trail, as this element has the symbol Li with an atomic number of 3. It would be great if when I heard about another lie, I can imagine something positive. Nothing comes without its challenges, lithium exists in abundant quantities in the ocean but extraction is a complicated/expensive process. Today the major untapped supplies are in the “lithium triangle” which includes the Atacama desert in Chile and the salt flats of Bolivia and Argentina. Australia has large reserves and the United States has potential as large reserves have been proven in the last 5 years. No surprise, mining can have impacts on the health of the local environments. Lithium does present a route out of our reliance on fossil fuels. Scientists are working on extraction techniques that do the least harm to our planet.

August 11 showcases the last super moon of this year. Dubbed the Sturgeon Moon by The Old Farmers Almanac the name originated from Native Americans. The giant sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this part of summer. The fish looks prehistoric and people call them “living fossils”. The fish can be as big as a Volkswagen. Other native names for this super moon include Flying Up Moon from the Cree, Corn, Harvest, Ricing, and Black Cherries Moon. I like all the names which bear a meaning but my favorite is the Mountain Shadow Moon from the Tlingit people of the Pacific Northwest. A beautiful moon by any name is a gift from heaven.

You might want to invest in the big “Li”. Have a great week end.  Mike
