I remain perplexed by the world in which we live. Facts do not matter much to so many of our fellow American’s. I have enjoyed the Science fiction genre that imagines there is a parallel universe. I am going to site Harry Potter since that is an excellent example. You enter the train stop for the Hogworts express by rushing at a brick wall that represents platform 9 3/4. Credibility is the brick wall of our current Universe, if it seems like dangerous nonsense, it most likely is just that. One would think that those who continually crash into the “wall” would grow weary and perhaps even have some sense knocked into them. You would be in error as there seems to be some attraction in distortion, misdirection, and prevarication. I think the willingness to be enlisted in the wall crashers has its foundation in racial discrimination.

In the wizarding world of Harry Potter there  is discrimination against mud bloods or muggles, they are not pure—one of their parents is a non-wizard. In our universe, a famous Fox News Wanker pushes Replacement Theory to add fuel to the fire. Border policy is designed to change the racial mix of our county, it threatens “white America.” Apparently a country where all of us are created equal just sounds good as some of us should be more equal than others.

In any universe it is likely that good and evil are always at odds. Those in our country who sew doubt about our established institutions to benefit themselves are shameful. I compare the Wanker who used to be our President with Lord Voldemort, the Dark Prince in Harry Potter. Voldemort realized he would have opposition from the side of good and he created 7 Horcruxes each that possessed a part of his soul, to be able to live forever. I can only hope that the truth will surely destroy the magic spell that has kept the Wanker in the spotlight.

“The surest sign intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us”, quipped Bill Watterson. “The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits” said Albert Einstein. And finally, “it would be nice to spend millions on schools and roads but right now that money is desperately needed for political ads” mused Andy Borowitz.

Thanks to Governor Little for his special session focused on a very large investment in our public education system.  Enjoy the week end.  Mike
