A life well lived is legacy enough. Not all of us can make a profound difference for the world. Each of us leave an indelible mark on our friends, family, co workers and circle of influence. You may guess this is on my mind as I anticipate losing another connection to the past. My sister in law, Linda, has lived a productive and rewarding life. Diagnosed with a rare blood cancer a few years ago she has set an example for us to follow as she has persevered through an unrelenting illness. Her optimism and positive outlook gave her the strength to continue the battle. As her time grows short it is not too late for us to share the positive memories we will carry forever. Linda would not want a eulogy today so I have sent her a song by Elton John to make her smile.
The words by Bernie Taupin are masterful, like so many other collaborations with Elton John. “Guess there are many times when we all need to share a little pain—and ironing out the rough spots—is the hardest part when memories remain…..and it feels so good to hurt so bad—and suffer just enough to sing the blues…” So turn ‘em on, turn on those sad songs, when all hope is gone, why don’t you tune in and turn them on.” The link is attached, please take a minute to sing along. “Sad Songs (Say too much)”
I promised to give you more information on ReClaiming Idaho and Defend and Protect. That topic does not fit well with this message. Stay tuned.
I also am going to defer on saying much about the Orange Wanker, but I know Linda is enjoying seeing evidence “that what goes around comes around.” Thank you Jimmy Kimmel for your weather forecast—“Stormy in NYC.”
My experience tells me each time I lose a friend, I wish I had invested more time with them. There is always going to be time—until there isn’t.
