I went to the store today to pick up a few items before we headed to McCall to ski. I had the good fortune to get to visit with Rosie. There are a few people in the world who are genuinely kind, thoughtful, empathetic, passionate about children, people, and probably pets. A retired kindergarten Teacher, she still remembers everyone she encounters. I am guessing no one would object to her Sainthood recognition.
Rosie lived up the block before she moved and would occasionally drop off a pan of cinnamon roles, I told her once about my mom’s unbeatable rolls and of course she remembers. Interesting neither Rosie or Laura, my mom, ever looked at a recipe to bake.
So I am telling you this story because we started talking about the State of our country. After a few minutes or recounting the most recent unimaginable Executive orders, Rosie was beside herself and nearly in tears. That is the state of mind of so many American’s as the Orange Wanker implements the Project 2025 play book with the assistance of his Nazi saluting henchman. I assured Rosie that the future was not totally dim, many of us are rallying to protect our country.
I hope you will tune in to the Meidas Touch podcasts. The brothers have gained nearly 5 million subscribers. You can count on them for the truth about the current political issues. What a novel concept, the truth.
I actually intended to tell you about the Fund raising letter I received from the office of the Governor. I will skip to the chase, it wanted money to support the vision of the future. I have written a letter in response but will share one wee segment.
“We had record job creation, full employment, record stock market levels, inflation back under control, meaningful steps taken to protect our planet, allies on our side—so you are suggesting we should go back to what? Abandon prosperity for isolationism. Make American Great Again at the expense of the rest of the world?” This idea is what made us the ugly Americans in the not too distant past.
Idaho Republicans want to curb the Federal Government, nearly 30% of our Annual State Budget is funded by Federal Government programs. We will likely spend $14.3 billion in the next fiscal year and over the past few years we receive close to $5 billion from D. C. If you count social security, grants, and direct support Idaho has received close to $20 billion each of the past 3 years. I wonder how the federal budget and job cuts will affect our State? I would question cutting Idaho tax rates in this very uncertain and volatile environment.
Ok, I am nearly finished with the rant. If you ever watch Chris Hayes, our West Ada school teacher made national news. It seems the School Administration says that not everyone thinks “everyone is welcome” in the classroom. Karen and I have ordered our tee shirts from Brigade Events. We can’t get “Idaho is too Great for Hate” on our license plates and I guess I now know why!! Thanks to Idaho Leaders United for standing against bigotry and violence in our State.
Please do what you can to spread the word and stand up for what you believe.
