As I told a few friends about the importance of vultures the ecosystem, I was asked what do you call a flock of the oft maligned birds of prey.  As complex as the animal itself, in flight the vultures are a kettle, on the ground; a commission, venue, or volt, and when surrounding a carcass they are a wake.  The Peregrine Fund supports several vulture reserves across Africa. The birds were nearly extinct as they would feed on poisoned animals. Before that threat the vulture cleaned up carcasses and did so in a way that prevented the spread of disease. The birds are ‘obligate scavengers’, they feed primarily on carrion. The vulture is a hunter at times and is included as a bird of prey for its acute vision and other characteristics.  The vulture is not beautiful but its role in the ecosystem is vital.

You occasionally hear the idiom, well isn’t that a fine “Kettle of fish”.  The words indicate the situation  is a muddle—defined as bad, messy or extremely difficult.  I am not sure our current state of affairs in the United State’s is adequately described by the idiom. The Orange Wanker is doing all in his significant new power to subdue dissent and discussion in our Government, Military, Universities, Legal entities, Public education, Free Press, Science…et al and solidify his Regime’s authoritarian goals and his personal fortune. This is certainly a muddle but the sense of urgency and impending disaster is understated by an idiom that is so benign.  Expressing the idea that our own military should utilize American Cities as training grounds is beyond the “Kettle” and on to the catastrophic. We cannot get lulled o sleep by the constant onslaught of Project 2025 tactics.

Flood the zone is a useful approach to taking control.  So many things happening at the same time dulls the senses for the underlying plan. Climate change is a great example of the threat we face.  It is a hoax!!, according to the Orange wanna be king and his minions. The rest of the world recognizes the risks including China who is leading the way on alternative energy.  Continuing to utilize energy sources that warm the planet will expedite the climate catastrophe’s we and more importantly or children and grandchildren face.

According to recent research, as published in the National Geographic, the oceans of our world have been protecting us.  Sea surface temperatures are up 1 degree on average from 2000. That does not sound like much until you realize 71% of the earth is covered by water.  Think about the energy needed to boil water versus heating your oven to 212 degrees. At that temperature water will scald you and the heat in your oven is merely uncomfortable. Water holds significantly more heat energy than air. The Oceans absorbed 14 zettajoules of  energy of heat in the year 2020.  Zetta means sextillion or 21 zeroes after the digits.  It is estimated it took 160 billion years to reach l4 zettajoules and we added that much heat energy in one year.  As a comparison,  the entirety of human energy consumption on our planet in one year is one half a zettajoule.

The Orange felon talked about the n word on his ill fated speech in front of our generals. He thinks he is humorous, he is not and a racist to boot. The oceans absorb the equivalent heat energy of “7 atomic bombs detonating every second of every day for a year. All the energy from those explosions would equal 14 zettajoules.”  An atomic bomb is powered by an uncontrolled nuclear chain reaction.  90% of climate change heat ends up in the ocean according to a renowned Thermal Scientist, John Abraham.  “Ocean heat is the key metric to tell us what’s happening on our planet.” The excess heat and moisture is picked up by the winds and deposited across the land in increased humidity, hotter weather, more powerful storms and heavier rains. Hurricane’s, tornadoes, droughts are some of the ever increasing visible signs of heating up our planet.  This is not a conspiracy theory.

Is it too late to reverse these ocean warming directions, the experts say if we stopped carbon emissions today the oceans would continue to warm for decades and perhaps even a millennia.

Enjoy the night sky this month. The nearly full Super Harvest Moon and Saturn meet on the 5th. Saturn is in retrograde for several months and moving east to west. The fastest moving meteor shower of the year, Draconid, peaks on the 8th. On the 19th, the moon and Venus will be only 4 degrees apart and you can finish the month with Mercury reaching its further point from the Sun as viewed from the earth, it will be very bright.
