I will get to the Tangerine Anus a bit later but for now we will consider the European Heat Dome.

Jannik Sinner, the world’s number one tennis player lost his second round French Open tennis match.  He held a large lead at 5-1 in the third set, extreme heat exhaustion led to dizziness and severe cramping.  A break allowed him to eventually continue only to lose 20 of the next 22 games.  Sinner is a world class athlete and was unable to overcome the extreme heat during his match.  Imagine the threat to the average human at these becoming normal conditions.

Parts of France hit more than 100 degrees this week, according to AccuWeather.  London set a record for May, reaching 95 degrees. “Oxford, where records date back 211 years, notched the highest temperature ever registered.”These extreme temperatures are reported in more than a half dozen countries from Portugal to Switzerland. The culprit is a “heat dome” where temperatures remain high under a pressure system, that is said to be “fueled by the unrelenting burning of fossil fuels.”  We can stick our heads in the sand, but according to a renowned professor of climate science, “record breaking heat has the fingerprints of climate change all over it.”

Europe, like parts of our country are not prepared for these extremes, with pools and misting systems trying to combat the heat stress.  Heat was linked to “seven deaths” in recent days in France. In parts of Italy, authorities have place restrictions on outdoor labor activities.  Some farmers ‘were forced to harvest crops early’ to save them from extreme heat.  To add to the challenge, the nights are not cooling down which creates its own threats for our entire ecosystem.

In Britain nearly 50% of the elevated electricity demand was met by solar power, according to Bloomberg. I do not know how many whales or birds would have been impacted if it was wind power.  As amazing “around midday on Tuesday, hourly electricity prices dipped below zero in France, which can only occur when solar and wind power add more energy to the grid that it can use.”  Drill baby drill is a ridiculous strategy as the earth faces perhaps its largest threat, climate change.  Simon Stiell, the United Nations climate chief said “The main culprit is the world’s addiction to burning coal, oil and gas, and destroying forests.”

You are a threat to our democracy; If you do not understand that our country is best served by diversity in all aspects of life, if you can accept that we will forget or rewrite history, if you are willing to overlook fraud, grift, and corruption, if weaponizing the DOJ for revenge is legitimate, if you have a belief that hating others makes you superior and that cruelty demonstrates strength, if you approve of attacking, wishing to annex, or economically punishing our allies and foes, if you are on board with leaving NATO and the World Health Organization, if you are more concerned with a ball room, reflecting pool, and an Arch than health care, the future of our children and our planet…….The list could go on as the Orange Wanker and his minions flood the zone with distraction and diversion.

Back to the title word, Threads was a source for a picture of the overweight golfer, DJT, with the caption “they gave him a colonoscopy and found half of Congress.”  I wonder if he knows annual means once per year?  Only a few brave Republicans have stood up to the Orange Felon, maybe those few can support bringing a bi partisan end to the Iran War.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson reminds us, “Science is true, regardless of whether you believe it or not.”
