I invested a bit of time trying to include the infamous catering truck and our not so brave or loyal Orange Wanker into a clever song or poem. It turns out I am no Randy Rainbow and so nothing humorous that is shareable. My first thought, because Paul McCartney holds #47 in the lowest regard was a play on the l969 Abbey Road cut, “She came in through the Bathroom Window”. The song was based on a fan invading Paul’s house and stealing mementoes. This is not unlike what we see happening to our Country each day as we gild, rename, or modify history. Verse one is on point for the Orange Cockwomble’s current state of being -‘came in through a bathroom window-protected by a silver spoon-but now she sucks her thumb and wanders—by the banks of her own lagoon.’ Classy way to say delusional. I then moved on to Stephen Stills classic, “Love the one you’re With”, this is an imperfect metaphor as it could apply to the Felon’s infidelity or to his love of himself.
I considered the Culture Club hit, “Karma Chameleon”, hoping the “you come and go” part could be expanded upon. The song is about the fear of social alienation and the consequences of hiding one’s true self to please others. No way to wedge the Orange Narcissist into that work of art. I am going to finish with Bonnie Tyler’s, “Total Eclipse of the Heart”. The phrase is a ‘dramatic metaphor for a love that has completely blocked out all light, joy, and hope leaving a person in total emotional darkness.’ We will not give up our future to the Regime whose love and loyalty are only to themselves.
John F. Kennedy said in his inaugural address, “we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure survival and success of liberty”. In the same inspirational speech he reminded us to “ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.” Kennedy’s short tenure in the White House and his public service and his bravery in war distinguish him today. What we can do today as citizens is be informed, engaged, courageous, and get out the vote. I will gladly play the Queen anthem, “We Will Rock You” and sing along ‘you got mud on your face, a big disgrace, kicking your can all over the place—-somebody putting you back into your place’ as the Orange one sneaks out the back door to escape in his catering crate.
One positive outcome of #47’s behavior and decisions are a plethora of political cartoons. My favorite this week depicts Trump and an aide gazing into the reflecting pool. POTUS says, ‘all I can see is scum”. The aide responds, ‘it is a Reflecting pool Mr President.
The picture is Holt making a turn on the Pristine Payette Lake in McCall. A few early morning’s this season we have enjoyed the perfectly flat water of Pilgrim Cove with nary another boat on the Lake. Katie, Megan and Holt get to savor this unique gift while traveling along at 35 miles per hour. This is a moment of Zen for me, I get to live vicariously as I watch the wake defying action 75 feet behind the boat.
The kids are back in Boise Public school this week and I encourage each of us to thank our teachers and support your local schools.
