I am filled with angst about the upcoming elections in Idaho and across our democracy. Distraction is the official Regime policy. Renaming New Mexico, Lake Ontario. Artificial intelligence, The Kennedy Center, Gulf of Mexico, all get media attention.  Sending $500 checks to ACA policyholders, offering $5000 to every American voter if the Republicans retain both houses. Removing troops from Europe, threatening aniliation of Iran, pulling NATO support, inviting Russian to the G20, praising N. Korea and China–whose side is he on? Claiming his leadership was the reason the American golfers won the President’s Cup, the Midterm convention got l07 million views while the NFL games only got 25 million, more threats around the ill-fated reflecting pool, he was cheered at the Tennessee football game-not-, the Triumphal Arch is going to be a sniper tower and drone port–exhausting.

Diesel prices are not the fault of the Iran war rather it is Ukraine’s  bombing of the Russian refineries. The Canadian’s are Nasty, we are banning fake news from the Pool coverage, the negative polling is a hoax, and America is doing great!  Inflation is under control, the last report showed a slow down in the increase, no secret, if they had not changed the inputs the number would be higher than last month not lower.  The master of distraction and his minions are not bashful about the use misinformation or outright lies.  Don’t get distracted–Let’s help the complicit Republican’s find new careers.

Our own Senators remain silent on all subjects. Senator Risch  has refused to debate his independent challenger, Todd Achilles.  Risch is not seen at any town hall meetings. An adamant supporter of NATO, an independent Ukraine, and tough sanctions on Russia, the Senator inexplicitly  sits quietly on the sidelines as the Orange Wanker threatens our Allies and cow tows to Putin.  The Vice President has stepped in to encourage donations to Risch even though he has a significant fund raising advantage.  Keeping with the hypocracy level of the party –Vance suggested in a letter that out of state money would unfairly influence the race—Oh brother!! Our Republican AG has determined it is ok for Church’s to collect funds for anti Proposition One influence without disclosure of donor names. This is very likely illegal but certainly panders to the in and out of state money that want this proposition defeated.  The races and propositions should be decided on who will be the best leader and outcome for women’s health, not on who has the most money to spend on the campaign.

I just received a fund raising letter from Governor Little touting all he has done for Idaho. I agree, there are many positive economic outcomes over the past few years. Hailing tax cuts returned to Idahoan’s is a fact, unfortunately it was done at the expense of Public education and Medicaid.  The tax cuts were excessive in my view and resulted in a self made budget crisis. There was not a word in the letter about the impacts of Micron on our Valley and Idaho’s economic vitality. None of our elected Federal officials votes for the CHIP Act, but Senator Risch had the gall to show up for the ground breaking along with the Governor.  Micron clearly stated that the ACT, intended to bring chip manufacturing back to the US, allowed them to commit to a $15 billlion expansion. Add to that another multi billion dollar Micron project on  their Boise campus.  Those damn Democrats gave Idaho a giant boost to an already robust market.  Little praises Trump for his support but not a mention of how a rancher or farmer in Idaho feels about the price of diesel, gasoline, fertilizer, or imported frozen beef.

I can hear Karen reminding me this is too long. In addition to Proposition One on the ballot in November The House wants to ensure its exclusive power to legalize marijuana, et all, make English the official language of the State, and House Bill 932 is an advisory vote on which gun should be the State gun of Idaho. I did not make this stuff up. Prop 1 is a citizen backed initiative- the same process that moved Idaho to allow Medicaid expansion.

Thanks to Chad for the thoughtful poster.   Mike
