I walk Mmma early every morning before the sun or the neighbors are up. It is very dark and quiet-peaceful. Just as we reached our turn around spot I was treated to a shooting star that traveled the entire horizon and disappeared behind the mountains. It is a reasonable belief that wishing upon a meteor will make your dream come true. How can anyone argue that there is truly mystery and magic in the universe.
This was no regular phenomenon, I am certain the brilliant star sighting was our friend Bob Haga letting us know all was well on his journey off this mortal coil. Bob passed away a few days after his 97th birthday this week. Bob’s life provided a selfless “North Star” for all who knew him. As another famous Bob would say, “thanks for the memories.”
It is a good week to focus on the heavens. What we are watching on earth is so disheartening, The Lutin comet may take your mind off mass shootings, the Republican Party playing Russian roulette with the debt ceiling, attempts to rewrite Black history in Florida, threats to public education across our country, book banning……..It is not wise to spend too much time ruminating on these threats, it can lead to depression. Get out that telescope and check out the comet, it is the size of Jupiter and its gas make up is illuminated green by the exposure to sunlight.
Thursday was the 100th day of school at the grand girls elementary school. The kids were encourage to dress like a person that age. Clio and Margie went as Janet and Rita—-a picture is worth a thousand words.
Enjoy the week end. Mike
