I grew up in Eastern Idaho with many of my friends belonging to the dominant church in that area. Swearing was not something any of us did around adults but my religiously oriented friends substituted “frig” for what they really meant. It is amazing that the “f” word has retained its timeless use. I really cannot explain what “f##n A” means but it can be good or bad depending on the circumstance to so many Americans. You gotta be wondering why this would be a topic of the Friday message. No one is more surprised than me.
Margie is 7, when we picked her up from school on Thursday she was in an interesting state of mind. She could not wait to show us a closed fist with the index finger on her other hand held behind it. It looked exactly like she was flipping us off. You don’t really want to laugh, but kind of inappropriately funny. We try to remind her this is not humorous or acceptable. Margie then reports she desperately wants to say the “f” word. No! Is our adamant response. Why not? My friend, she will go nameless, says it all the time. We finally got the subject changed to her math assignment. We are leaving this life lesson to Margie’s parents.
The inversion in Boise has created a very dreary, cold week. The rainbow in this weather condition is seen in this week’s picture. It is referred to in the Bible as a metaphor for God’s power and the beauty of creation. The word usually is greeted with a few giggles because it sounds like the word that refers to prostitution. The “hoar frost” is a “type of feathery frost that forms as a result of specific climatic conditions”. The word has its derivation from old English and simply refers to the old age appearance of the frost, “the way the ice crystals form look like white hair or a white beard.”
You likely notice I am avoiding any reference to the Orange Wanker. Those people who told me he would not be the end of our world—I hope you are correct. That said, I give a few Republican’s credit for sending Matt Gaetz off to hock cameo appearances for misguided fans. Let’s hope Patel, Hegseth, and JFK meet the same fate. So many cockwomble’s running our country. As a word, “cockwomble is somehow rude, dirty, shocking, confusing and funny all at the same time.” If they were not so dangerous it might be humorous.
Our country will overcome these dark frosty days. Keep your faith. Mike
