Extraordinary day at the beautiful Jug Mountain Golf course. We had the first tee time and it was a perfect temperature, blue sky, and not a breathe of wind. I will not give you a shot by shot description of my round because why should you suffer. My playing partner was a bit better but he paused when on the 15th hole of the day my par putt caught the edge of the hole and went in. He thought my quote was worth repeating—“I have been in search of a par.” There are good and bad outcomes on the golf course but no bad days. It is wonderful game and will distract you from the “chaos” we encounter each day. I no longer say I am going to give up the game because that is not going to happen while I can still swing a club.
Speaking of commitments that should not be abandoned, “No Kings” day was inspiring, nearly 10 million American’s in over 2000 different towns and cities across our country showed up in peaceful solidarity. At the same time ‘Don Snoreleone’ was suffering/snoozing through his very expensive self aggrandizing event. Nothing is ever the Wanker’s fault, he embraces the huge attendance lie and blames the tone of the event on another primadonna; the Bible thumping, not quite ready for prime time Secretary of Defense. Hats off to Senator Elissa Slotkin who brought the heat to the pompas, arrogant and plain old rude Secretary Hegseth in a hearing on calling in the military in California.
My grandson, Hank, wondered why that word, extraordinary, was a positive description of something amazing. It does not make literal sense that something ordinary or mundane can be amplified by extra. Hank went on to question incredible on the same grounds. While they serve as synonyms for each other, the word can also mean odd, bizarre, curious, strange, uncommon……..or just weird. Since everything political today is off plumb, I feel Hank may have a point.
Summer time means I get to hang out with the grandkids. I am the fruit smoothie maker in the morning, deliver the girls to Day camp and other duties as assigned. It is a great job. This week Margie and I were looking at a Nature Conservancy calender after I pried her away from her computer. The giant flying fox (fruit bat), a baby ocelot and elephant, amazing photography. I asked, what do you think?, “impressive” was the very serious response. That is how eight year old’s talk when exposed to Idaho’s public education. Don’t let anyone tell you Vouchers are a good idea or that they will not take away from critical funding for K-12 Idaho schools. Please take a minute to look at ReClaim Idaho’s website to see how you can help.
Margie is wearing a 57th U. S. Junior Girls golf hat, in 2005, Jerry Breaux and Banbury golf course hosted this prestigious tournament. Two of the young ladies went on to amazing careers on the LPGA tour. I K Kim won and Inbee Park finished second. Jerry and I are going to auction this hat off at the Idaho Junior Golf event this year, it is signed by the winners. Mr. Breaux says it is worth millions!
We should all be asking our U S Delegation to do their job and keep our country out of the Iran conflict. Only Congress can declare war according to our Constitution
