Random

Megan, my oldest daughter is likely to ask a random question!  She announces it beforehand so that you can mentally shift gears to neutral in preparation.  I have a friend who has commented to me that my own thought process seems to be more of a stream of consciousness.  I tell you this so that you can be prepared for this disjointed Friday offering. Some weeks it is clear to me what subject compelled me to learn more detail.  This is random week.

Hank made his first trip to the Dentist this week and I reluctantly volunteered to be his chaperone. We arrived a few minutes early and he was relaxed and composed, guess we forgot to tell him most people fear going to the Dentist. Thanks to Leslie, the hygienist at Summit Dental Hank looks forward to his next visit, she explained all of the protocol and kept him engaged by asking questions and explaining next steps. He left better informed and Dr. Carson invited him back soon as he needs to put a tooth to sleep ? to repair a cavity and replace it with “camo” filling. Life is about setting expectations and solid communication.

Today 35 years ago, Johnny Cash married June Carter and formed a famed country and western duo.  Alexa played Ring of Fire as my wake up song this morning. I could see the rugged singer dressed all in black like he was still standing tall.  I read this morning that the last mountain caribou known in Idaho was trapped and moved to British Columbia.  Coincidentally, this ends a 35 year  conservation program to protect this high country Caribou in Idaho.   Bryce Harper signed a 13 year, $330 million contract to play for The Phillies and according to FiveThirtyEight he will be batting in the ballpark where he hit more home runs than any other road stadium.

A friend of mine mentioned Significant Digits from FiveThirtyEight news which is a “daily digest of the numbers tucked inside the news.”  I heartily recommend this resource as more than ever we need to know the facts and statistics around current events.  Check this out.
