Indeed it was my birthday this week. I always have considered myself very lucky and it all started with being born into a great family on 11-7. I am fond of numbers and it seems positive that this is my 67th birthday which adds to 13. My uncle named me Michael Mark as he thought it was unique to have the triple M initials. M is a good letter as it happens to be the middle if the alphabet or the thirteenth letter. Could it get any better-maybe as the dog year calculation of my age adds to 21. The first roll of the dice in craps of 7 or 11 is a winner. 21 is a winning point total in black jack. I am thinking I should buy a lottery ticket!
I have not told you about Mmma recently. Our dog continues to be our daily motivation, walk the dog first thing and walk the dog at the end of the day. MMMa is six or 42 depending on your math preference. I swear the dog communicates with us. I was curious so a bit of research suggests I may not be making it up. If your dog holds her tail straight out from her body she is likely curious, tucked under she is frightened. If the dogs tail wags more to the right the other dogs can relax. Dogs join apes and monkeys in their ability to read your facial expression and tell how you are feeling. You may sound tough but your canine knows you are a softie. Don’t get too upset when your dog barks, she is likely defending you or frightened. You can actually take a test on your dog IQ – I think it is a waste of time as long as you realize you will never have a more dependable or loyal friend. I also believe the dog year scale is good psychology as we work to stay young.
The word at Hank’s school this week is focus. After spending some time in the class each day when I pick him up I understand why. Imagine 20 plus 3 and 4 year olds in a room with many playtime options. The school does a great job of keeping order in the chaos; however, kids generally bounce from activity to activity – not trying to multitask. I am thinking adults could learn from them. I find this quote fits my experience “when you focus on problems, you’ll have more problems. When you focus on possibilities you’ll have more opportunities.” Said another way I often quote my friend Charlie Wilson, “no crabgrass in your mental garden.”
Enjoy the week end. Mike
