Anyone else growing weary, ashamed, or just frightened by what is happening in our country? I was so frustrated by the lack of feedback from our own Senators and Representatives that I actually wrote to one of them. I asked, I would appreciate hearing from you on your view of the unilateral exit from the Syrian border and the loss of lives that will follow. I also asked for his view on the “stonewalling” of the Ukraine inquiry by the White House. I did get an immediate response to my first question which was a primer on the complex state of Syria, ISIS, our ally and fighting friends the Kurds, and an assurance that he and his colleagues are working together to exercise “oversight of U. S involvement overseas.” We are seeing some outrage from Senate Republicans but they are on “break” and will consider sanctions on Turkey when they return. It is truly a closing the “stable door” after the damage is done scenario. In this case it is human lives that hang in the balance.
Speaking of “stable” our own genius leader has shown his true self aggrandizing colors once again. Fearless leader has deemed himself, “the chosen one”, “so great looking and smart”, and now possessing “great, and unmatched wisdom”. Fact checking is a bit useless as “spin” and counter attacks rule the day; however, I thought an understanding of wisdom was in order. Wisdom is the ability to know what is true or right, common sense, or the collection of one’s knowledge. The soundness of an action or decision reflecting good judgement. The term Unmatched emphasizes that it is better or greater than all other things of the same kind. I would agree with Fearless if the great and unmatched were modifying the word ego. I encourage our U.S. Senate to re-evaluate the 2001 Authorization for use of Military Force that apparently empowers the President to act without consulting anyone.
I find the English sense of humor and slang very entertaining. They get credit for the word cockwomble – meaning a completely useless person that spouts constant lies or a foolish or an obnoxious person.
Speaking of class acts, President Jimmy Carter was in the news this week at age 95 continuing his work for Habitat for Humanity. Carter took a bad fall that required multiple stitches and was back at work within days. I believe President Carter exhibits “unmatched” humility. Carter was asked what advice he would have for the current embattled President. He replied, “my advice to him would be to tell the truth, I think, for a change.”
Keep the faith, we will rise above this crisis. M
